Where It Is Used
- Joining and sealing plastic housings, covers and enclosures
- Assembling electronic and electrical product casings
- Attaching fabric, nonwoven or film to plastic parts
- Staking, inserting and spot welding of suitable parts
- Consumer, automotive and packaging components where the material and joint design suit ultrasonic welding
How It Works
A generator converts mains power into a high-frequency electrical signal. A converter turns it into mechanical vibration, a booster adjusts the amplitude, and a horn shaped to your part delivers the vibration to the joint. The friction at the joint melts the plastic, and it solidifies under pressure into a bond. Read more in our working principle guide.
Choosing the Right Configuration
- Frequency: 15kHz and 20kHz machines suit different part sizes. See 15kHz vs 20kHz.
- Power: depends on weld area and material. See how to select welding power.
- Horn and fixture: made to suit the shape of your component.
- Material: weldability depends on the plastic grade. See suitable materials.
- Automation: manual, semi-automatic or automatic loading to match your volume.
