Ultrasonic technology can join, seal and cut fabrics that contain a high proportion of thermoplastic fibre, without needle and thread. JSB Ultrasonic supplies ultrasonic sewing, cutting and sealing equipment for textile and nonwoven applications.
Applications in Textiles and Nonwovens
- Lace and edge sewing: decorative and functional seams on synthetic fabrics. See our ultrasonic lace sewing machines.
- Cutting and sealing labels, tapes and ribbons: hot or cold cutting that can seal the edge so it does not fray. See our tape cutting machines and label cutting machines.
- Nonwoven products: joining and sealing nonwoven fabric for bags, covers and similar products.
- Bonding fabric to plastic: attaching textile layers to plastic parts. See spot welding applications.
Material Matters
Ultrasonic joining depends on the fabric containing enough thermoplastic fibre, such as polyester, nylon or polypropylene, to melt and bond. Fabrics made of natural fibres alone, such as pure cotton, do not fuse in the same way, so a sample should always be tested.
Benefits
- Sealed edges that resist fraying on suitable fabrics.
- No thread to change or break.
- Fast, repeatable seams and cuts.
Tell us your fabric, seam type and production requirement and we will advise on suitable equipment. Contact JSB Ultrasonic to arrange a sample test.
